The power of propaganda

As my final days pass, before I put in my full resignation as a student journalist, I ask you to bear with me for one last moment. I ask that you look through the eyes of the seeker, inhale and embrace the forbidden air we breathe. As we walk, we stand as equals and not as adversaries. Let us empower each other by looking beyond the wall and thus read in between the lines of truth.
Even after all the death threats and hate mail I have received, I would like you journey with me into the world of manipulation and propaganda. These persuasive techniques are usually applied by politicians, advertisers, journalists, radio personalities, our parents and other people who have an interest in influencing human behavior.
Every day we are bombarded with one persuasive communication after another. These propagandist messages are used by men like George W. Bush to rev up the American population for war or for presidential elections to gain support from the American people. Most propagandists use short cuts-particularly those that cut off rational thinking. Why do we as people feed into this crap? Why do we let politics and media agitate our emotions? They do this by capitalizing on the ambiguity of language and by changing the rules of logic.
Bad names have played a powerful role in the history of the world and in our individual development. They have ruined reputations, sent people to prison and made men mad enough to go into battle and slaughter others. This is happening today in our society, even as we speak. Think of some of the words in use today. We use names like terrorist, faggot, bum, nigger and white trash. How can we be so ignorant as to use these terms in our society? How can we move forward when propaganda keeps conditioning people to believe that they are a part of these made up categories?
In a transfer device, which is a type of propaganda, symbols are constantly used. Churches use the cross to symbolize the church. The American flag is supposed to represent the nation but now it is used to represent George W. Bush and his conservative warmongers. Uncle Sam represents a consensus of public opinion. By drawing an Uncle Sam who approves the budget, the cartoonist would have us feel that the American people approve it. The Transfer device is used both for and against causes and ideas. When political activists close their speeches in a ridiculous public prayer, they are attempting to attach religious prestige to the ideas that they advocate so they can get support from religious groups. These religious fanatics buy into the propaganda because it’s what they want to hear. The political activist used the prayer to establish a rapport with the religious audience. It worked. How stupid is that? Let’s give a round of applause for the politician who out-smarted god. Every day people are manipulated by the media, churches, schools, at home, and especially by politicians. Propagandists use fear appeal and then they implement something that reduces that fear so that we remain dependent on their product or belief. By using propaganda, these people retain power and control over humanity and suppress the minds of the ignorant population.
George W. Bush spoke about regime change in Iraq but I believe the whole world, including America, is ready for a regime change.
Now I step off the Op/Ed throne with words of advice for my readers: Keep your friends close and your enemies closer. Don’t let anyone ever tell you how to think. Think for yourself and be honest and up front with everyone no matter what. Laugh in the face of ignorance.

Polyamory: The real way to love

Are you in a monogamous relationship and feel like it is not enough? Well why not stop now? Why limit yourself to loving just one person when you can have multiple relationships and retain honesty and healthiness in your life? By choosing a monogamous relationship, you decide to be separated from the vulnerability of having to deal with any other relationships in order to feel safe. Monogamy is a system of commitment set up in order to avoid the burden of having to deal with these other types of relationships, but this never insures security: it only makes you think that you are secure.
Monogamous relationships can be unhealthy because people can feel the need to shape or control their partner to fulfill their needs. These one-partner relationships are prone to keeping secrets. By withholding information from your partner, you never truly get to know each other. It is time to convert monogamy into polyamory. Polyamory means loving more than one person intimately. Polyamory is not the practice of promisicuity; it is a lifestyle that involves having more than one significant other.
According to Kathy Labriala, a counselor who deals with polyamorists through out the nation, marriage is just a patriarchal instutution that was invented to enslave people, especially women and control them sexually. Contemporary relationships end up in divorce or break up anyway because of that common device called cheating. If you practiced polyamory you wouldn’t have to cheat. Polyamory involves total trust and honesty with all of your partners.
Now don’t get this confused with polygamy; polygamy involves marriage, as where polyamory does not. Polyamory is an adult loving relationship that incorporates agreed-upon alternatives of intimacy. It is a non-possessive, responsible and ethical philosophy that encourages loving multiple persons simultaneously.
Polyamory is a great way to learn about unconditional love and thus a way to break free from imposed social norms. My meaning behind unconditional love is that even if you don’t fulfill a person’s need and expectations, you will still love that person for who they are with out trying to change them. By practicing polyamory, you could come to realize that you have passions and desires that differ from your significant other and that human beings have the right to love more than one person intimately.

Affirmitive Action is an insult to minorities

Here is tribute to all of you celebrating black history month. We shouldn’t pop the champagne bottle just yet until we cover Affirmative Action and explain why it is an insult that degrades minorities.
I know I sound like a right-wing conservative, but the fact of the matter is I am strongly anti-government. Affirmative Action is a plan or program giving preferential treatment to members of minority groups for the purpose of redressing past discrimination, usually in cases of hiring for jobs, college admissions, and government bans.
Believing in Affirmative Action is saying that you aren’t capable of achieving regular standards of admittance, whether it concerns applying for the workplace or college admission. You are saying the standards must be lowered to suit you. It is stating that you aren’t as capable as others. Affirmative Action implies minorities need a boost of help from white America because we aren’t smart enough to get the job ourselves, we can only fill quotas. We are still living in the past.
An African-American Longview student said, “I don’t believe in Affirmative Action. I want to know I got the job because I’m qualified, not because the company has to meet their quota.”
If we want white America to look at us as equal rather than inferior, we must eradicate all race issues when it comes to situations like this. People should be awarded jobs and scholarships for hard work they do, which will lead them in a successful path no matter what their ethnic background may be.
“I do not agree with the government showing pity to minorities. Minorities are just as capable of getting jobs or receiving scholarships. Society needs to stop doing favors and just let people make their own through life. Affirmative Action is a big insult and Id be pissed if the government tried to give me a handout,” stated a white Longview student.
Affirmative Action is a crutch for minorities who are stuck in the days of segregation. Affirmative Action was put in place primarily for the benefit of minorities and it is a double standard an falls under the lines of reverse racism. I believe that Affirmative Action encourages dependency on government and thus kills ambition. I must say I am disgusted and appalled by minorities who depend on government programs. In other words, no one owes us anything.

I HATE PEOPLE

What if told you that you were god and this physical reality was an illusion? You must be thinking that I am nuts. You probably think you are just a mere human being but that is nonsense. It is because of this way of thinking that you have created a “self” in thought-form or an illusionary self. So your illusionary self reinforces the illusion that you are just human and are separate and apart from what god is.
You may want to know how I know all of this? My question directed back towards you is why don’t you know? According to a scientific study of physical and non’-physical properties on Earth, conducted by a man named Tony Studds, right now human beings are living in what is called the third density, which involves levels of consciousness and awareness. Density refers to a vibrational frequency and not a location, which the term “dimension” implies.
Tony Studds was inspired by David Bohm, a physicist who taught at the University of London. Bohm and Studds believe the world around us is just a hologram or an illusion we created within our sub-conscious. We are unaware of this illusion because we are stuck in it. We have grown a custom to the physical realm so we have become addicted to the everyday life of being human. We now believe that this so-called reality is the only one that exists. This is the only reality we see or want to see.
The density structure of this reality is primarily expressed in seven levels. The density scale is a model used to communicate one’s perception of orientation in relation to other realities. There are an infinite number of dimensions with a given density or vibrational frequency. Frequency is the rate at which molecules or consciousness vibrates.
Now you are probably wondering what all this had to do with being god. This has everything to do with being god. The more aware and conscious we become the further we will ascend through density planes to find who we really are which is our higher self and that is god.
The third density and fourth density make up what we call the
Lower Creation World. The third constitutes some awareness, ego, loss of group identity, and ability to remember the past and cognize the future while retaining present awareness. This is the density where human beings emerge. This vibration creates the illusion of separation from each other and ourselves and thus a challenge toward awakening.
Presently, humanity is going through a transition period to fourth density reality, which can account for the many rapid changes that humanity is experiencing. This is the density that expresses the less separation from each other and our higher-selves, which we will call the whole. It is here that many lessons about integration are learned.
