The sound of large machines ripping into the ground has become a common thing for the Longview campus. Since construction has taken place at the site known as “New Longview”, several students have been curious about what settlements are under construction. Citizen’s Union State Bank has opened and many other businesses will be going up over the next two years. Longview President Fred Grogan regularly attends meetings about New Longview with its developer, Gale Communities, and had answers to some common questions about the project.
Q. When will New Longview be finished?
A. The developer projects five to ten years. And that’s an estimate.
Q. What businesses are going up over there?
A. Obviously there’s the bank. There
Q. Do you know how much the project will cost?
A. I have no idea. Th e only figure that sticks in my mind is $13 million going towards the restoration of the Longview Farm structures.

Q. How do you feel it hurts the college?

Q. If you have any preference, what would you like to see at New Longview?
A. I’m pleased with the possibility of new businesses that would provide employment opportunities for students and graduates.
