Longview Choir Sings On
In the December story “Longview’s Mighty Voices sing no more,” we reported that Longview would offer a Chancel choir, but no show choir in the future. In the Spring 2012 semester Longview is offering not chancel choir, but  mixed chorus, for the second semester, with instructor Kelly Collins.  Mixed chorus offers an emphasis on concert choir performances without choreography. The class meets MWF 3-5 p.m., and enrollment is open through February 10. In order to enroll, contact Judy Smith at (816) 604-2338.

Dean Cline & Dean Aaron Titles
In the story “Civility Creed returns to MCC,” the titles for Dean of Student Development Janet Cline and Associate Dean of Student Development Marvin Aaron were given incorrectly. We regret this error.

MLK Day Work Teams
All five campuses participated in MLK Day service work. Our story about the Blue River team was based on a press release about that group. We regret that the February 2011 print edition did not mention work teams on other campuses.

“Chancellor visits” byline
In the December print edition, the byline on “Chancellor Mark James visits Longview” was incorrect. The story was reported by Jason Welch.

African-American officer resigned
Between the time “Struggle to diversify MCC workforce continues” was published in print and online, Penn Valley President Bernard Franklin resigned. He was replaced by Blue River President Joseph Seabrooks. The resignation reduces the number of African-American officers in the district by one. The numbers were not updated for the web edition.

“Skyline” byline

In the December print edition, the byline on our review of “Skyline” was incorrect. The review was by Louis Kemner.

Details of attack on Dean Dimmitt
In “Penn Valley open after attack on dean” (15 Sept. 2010), we reported that a “vocal altercation” took place before the stabbing, and that the stabbing occurred inside a computer lab. Sources on campus after the event described the incident this way. MCC’s Public Information office tells us that no vocal altercation took place, and that the incident occurred in the hallway, not in the computer lab. We regret these errors.

Rick Wirt did not interview Michael Connelly
In “Check or Forward your MCC email” in the April 2010 print edition, the reporter quoted Longview instructor Michael Connelly. However, the reporter never spoke to Connelly for the story. We regret this error. All reporters for The Current understand that unless otherwise stated in the story, every fact in every story is assumed to have been told to the reporter in a face-to-face interview in which the reporter has identified herself as a reporter.

It’s Champagnie
In “PV Rec Center strengthens campus,” we misspelled the name of MCC-PV student Ladon Champagnie.

PV Rec Center employs personal trainers
In “PV Rec Center strengthens campus,” we incorrectly identified personal trainers and strength and conditioning specialists as physical therapists.

Grogan not a hippie
In “Get Back: LV Celebrates 40th Anniversary,” we incorrectly identified MCC-Longview president Fred Grogan as being among a group of protesters. Grogan was not in the crowd.
