Kansas City has the honor of hosting the FIFA World Cup Qualifying Match for the U.S.A. men vs. Guatemala team. The game will take place on October 16 at 6 p.m. at Live Strong Park, the home of Sporting Kansas City, the Major League Soccer team.
The game sold out in July. This means that all 25,000 seats that the stadium is designed to hold will be full of fans from all over the world. Live Strong Park is still a new stadium, and considered a cutting-edge showplace – a destination in the soccer world.
Three members of the Sporting KC squad are on the U.S.A. men’s team: defender Matt Besler, forward Teal Bunbury, and forward C.J. Sapong. These players will have the advantage of playing on a field they know well.
The winner of this game will advance to the next level to compete for a place in the FIFA World Cup in 2014.
