Rock the Vote comes to MCC’s Longview campus on Sept. 6 and Sept. 17. The event is to register young people to vote in the presidential election on Nov. 6 in keeping with the theme, “Empower yourself. Take part in democracy.”
The event will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on both days in the Private Dining Room, lower level of the Campus Center.
Rock the Vote is a social and political event sponsored by Campus Life and Leadership and the national organization Rock the Vote. Rock the Vote was started in 1991 to promote youth involvement in politics. The group and the event are non-partisan and not affiliated with any specific party.
“Every election is important. Voting is a great way to be a part of history,” said Longview student and Campus Life and Leadership employee Emma Blankenship, who will work the event. Students who register will be given free Rock the Vote pins, Blankenship said.
