Coach Rob Coach Rob Kaleikau and his team are excited about his first full year as head coach at Longview.

Last year, Kaleikau was handed a short recruiting season and hit the ground running, beating four nationally-ranked teams and finishing the season 22-18. This year, with a full recruiting season and some “good, strong recruits,” Kaleikau hopes to take the next step.

After starting the season with a loss to Allen County in four, Kaleikau said, “We’re going to come out swinging,” with a win at home against Cottey College. And they did so by winning three straight. The team clearly displayed that they were in control throughout the night.

After the game, freshman Ali Cavanaugh said, “I think we get along really well and we have a lot of fun.” Ali just recently joined the team and has already impressed Kaleikau by making her way into the starting lineup.

The team looked cohesive and libero Andrea Lopez noticed the difference. “Champions adjust,” she said. With a former champion as their coach, they hope history may repeat itself.
