X-Men Origins Wolverine is the latest chapter in the X-Men movie saga, chronicling the live of James “Logan” Howlett, aka, Wolverine, the most famous mutant in the world.

The story follows Logan (Hugh Jackman) from his birth in Canada, where he first discovers his mutant powers. After witnessing the death of his father and murdering his killer, Logan runs off with his older brother, Victor Creed (Liev Schreiber). The two of them stand together through every American war from Civil to Korean, while Logan watches his brother’s true animalistic killer attitude comes to life. Eventually, the two are recruited by Col. William Striker (Danny Huston) and drafted into a small team of mutants consisting of Agent Zero (Daniel Henney), an agile marksman who justifies his actions as orders; Frank Dukes (Kevin Durand), a mutant with indestructible skin; Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds), expert martial artist and swordsman who could deflect bullets with his blades; Bradley (Dominic Monaghan), a man who could control machines with his mind; and John Wraith (will.i.am.), a teleporter. Eventually Logan leaves the team and his brother. Six years later, Logan is living in Canada with his lover Kayla Silverfox (Lynn Collins) when Striker soon shows up again, asking for Logan’s help, saying that Victor has gone rogue. The result is Wolverine.

Ultimately, the story of the whole movie seemed a little rushed, not staying very long in one particular area. It is obvious to tell what’s CGI in most places. Many of the secondary characters don’t get much screen time or play very crucial roles in the story.

This movie could have been better. There’s no other way to put it. This movie could have been a heck of a lot better if the director had slowed the movie down a lot. Maybe they had given some of the characters like Gambit and Wraith some more screen time, this movie could be better. If you’re a hard core X-Men fan, go ahead and see this movie also see if you really want to see a half decent action movie.

I have seen ultimately every Marvel movie created since Blade back in the mid-90’s, and this one didn’t really interest me. And I was really looking forward to it. I thought this movie had a lot of potential to be great, and I think it just turned out weak. If they’d slow this movie way down and maybe split it into two movies, one before the time skip during Logan’s time with the wars and this time with the team, and then a second film about his time with Silverfox and then the whole adamantiem bonding, give the character’s like Gambit and Wade more screen time and back story, then this would have been great.
